Acrylic Painting with Stencils

Learn how you can add decorative appeal and interest to your acrylic paintings through the use of stencils! One of the most easiest and accessible printmaking techniques can be added to your paintings to create layers of shapes and colours. This workshop will teach you how to create very simple stencils using recycled food packaging and other materials, as well as how to apply them to a decorative nature inspired painting.

This is a live online workshop via Zoom with pre-recorded video demonstrations showing the techniques for creating the stencils and applying them to acrylic paintings for a decorative layered effect.

During the workshop there will be the opportunity to watch video demonstrations with live voice over from the tutor. The video demonstrations will show you how to cut a very simple leaf motif design stencil; explore various materials that work for stencil making; create the most simplest form of stencils for varied mark making and how to apply the stencils for creative effect.

Veronique will advise you regarding the various materials that can be used for making stencils and you will have the opportunity to make some yourself. You will then be shown how you can use your stencils for layering with other painting and mark making using acrylic paints. By the end of the workshop you will have a finished piece that demonstrates your knowledge of making simple stencils and using them to create a nature inspired work of art.

This workshop is ideal for anyone wishing to broaden their creativity through simple printmaking and mark making techniques. Perfect for beginners with little or no experience, as well as experienced artists who wish to allow their painting practice evolve through creative exploration.
